VII International “Worlds of Labor” Conference- XI National Conference on the Labor History

November 8-11, 2022 / State University of Bahia- Salvador

The participants of the National Association for the Labor History and the Workgroup “Worlds of Labor” of the National History Association (ANPUH) are pleased to invite researchers interested in the labor history in all its aspects to participate in the VII International “Worlds of Labor” Conference, promoted in conjunction with the XI National Conference on the Labor History, to be held between November 8 and 11, 2022, at the State University of Bahia (UNEB), in Salvador. Original papers based on empirical research, theoretical and methodological debates and assessments of academic production on the worlds of labor in their historical dimensions are welcome.

The Workgroup “Worlds of Labor” has played a fundamental role in disseminating and exchanging the growing production in the social history of work in Brazil. Since its creation in 2001, the Workgroup

has been promoting thematic symposia within all ANPUH national meetings and Conferences involving researchers related to the theme in alternate years. In 2010, at the meeting held at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, the Workgroup “Worlds of Labor” started to carry out its national journeys together with the International Conference. In 2012, both events took place at the Center for Research and Documentation of Brazilian Contemporary History at Fundação Getúlio Vargas (CPDOC/FGV); in 2014, at the University of the State of Bahia (UNEB); in 2016, at the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM). In 2018, the V International Conference, the IX National Conference on the Labor History, and the IX Regional Conference of the Workgroup “Worlds of Labor” of Rio Grande do Sul were held simultaneously at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. (UFRGS). Finally, in 2021, the VI International Conference and the X National Journey on the Labor History were held in virtual form (webinars), organized by the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ).

As in previous events, the objective is to bring together researchers from various academic disciplines who work on the labor history in Brazil and internationally. With this, we seek to encourage collaboration and dialogue between researchers in the area and instigate the discussion of the international agenda of historical studies on the worlds of labor.

The VII International “Worlds of Labor” Conference and the XI National Conference on the Labor History will have round tables and coordinated sessions. This call opens registration for coordinated sessions: applications for individual communications and complete coordinated sessions (with a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 4 participants) will be received. The proposal selection committee will give preference to proposals from full coordinated sessions. Particularly interesting are proposals that value connections between researchers from different institutions, regions and countries.
